Experimental and Analytical Investigation on Flexural Behavior of High-Strength Steel-Concrete Composite Beams

This research investigated the flexural behavior of high-strength steel (HSS)—concrete composite beams. The effect concrete strength on load-deflection behavior, capacity, and ductility HSS—concrete beams was investigated. Four full-scale beam specimens were tested under static load. test results demonstrate that failure mode is member compression fracture at mid-span. exhibits good mechanical performance deformation behavior. ultimate bending improved with increased strength. theoretical simplified plastic method overestimates main reason only a small part bottom shows strengthening, which not enough to make up for loss caused by near neutral axis yield relative interface slip. nonlinear based material constitutive model could predict load-bearing capacity accurately. After analyzing 192 sample beams, modified, bearing proposed.
